In Tuscia, at the Wine and Agro-Food Sciences Museum (MUVIS) in Castiglione in Teverina, the General Assembly of the European Confederation of Independent Winegrowers (CEVI) took place. The event brought together delegates from France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Luxembourg, Belgium, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Switzerland.

A change in leadership: Matilde Poggi, a winegrower from Veneto and former president of FIVI, handed over the role to French colleague Samuel Masse.
The newly elected vice presidents of the board are:

  • Ludovico Maria Botti, winemaker in Tuscia and FIVI board member,

  • Josef Valihrach, Czech Republic,

  • Mateja Škrl Kocijančič, Slovenia.

Also joining the new leadership team:

  • Ivo Varbanov (Bulgaria), Secretary General

  • Guy Krier (Luxembourg), Treasurer.

“I want to thank President Babini and FIVI for the trust – said Ludovico – I will work to strengthen relations among European winemakers. Now more than ever, we need a united front to build the future of Italian and European wine together.”

The assembly was the core of a three-day program in Tuscia and Lazio, rich in meetings, exchanges, and visits to key places for independent wine production.

Sunday, March 23
Visit to the historic center of Viterbo and dinner-tasting at Trattoria del Cimino dal 1895, a historic venue and national reference point for the FIVI network.

Monday, March 24
Visit to MUVIS, one of the largest wine museums in Europe, and to our organic winery Trebotti. We shared with our European colleagues the choices we’ve made in terms of sustainable innovation. The evening continued with a dinner together with several Lazio winegrowers to showcase the richness of our regional wines.

Tuesday, March 25
Final day between the Appian Way and Frascati, with visits to Riserva della Cascina, led by Silvia Brannetti, and to the Wine Resort Merumalia by Giulia Fusco. A lunch-tasting concluded the event, celebrating the quality of wines from our region.

Antonio Cosmi, FIVI Lazio delegate and owner of Casale Certosa, closed the event with these words: “Thanks to CEVI and FIVI national for choosing our region for such an important occasion.”
